Scottsdale Shade & Fruit Tree Nursery is a plant nursery in Phoenix, Arizona. It is listed at 4220 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85008, which places it among the local businesses of Phoenix that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

In Phoenix, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Arizona, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 6–10:30 am. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (480) 440-3719. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, scottsdaleshadandfruittree.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 32 reviews, which is a strong result for a plant nursery in Phoenix and suggests consistent service.

Phoenix is in Arizona, in the Southwest, where the desert climate brings very hot summers, mild sunny winters and the summer monsoon; outdoor businesses shift their hours toward early mornings and evenings in the hottest months. Getting around Phoenix is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Arizona's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Chris was super helpful finding a specific fountain grass I needed to match the existing landscaping at my new house. Prices were cheaper than other nurseries and communication was great when they sourced the plants and arrived in stock. Met with Cesar at the nursery and found some really killer rare Madagascar Palms I picked up as signature plants for the house. They have some unique succulents and cactus species so I will be back. Thank you Chris!

Hate to write a bad review but unfortunately after multiple bad experiences, recommend you avoid the same. Recently, plants purchased from here died shortly after planting, compared to identical plants from elsewhere that are doing fine in same location w/ same care. Owner Chris basically told me to pound sand when I reached out to him. Previously purchased several Ficus that revealed sooty canker shortly after planting. Learn from my mistakes. You will get better treatment at lower prices at other great local nurseries. TLDR - unhealthy plants, high prices, and expect bad treatment.

Chris and his team were super helpful from start to finish. Their prices were incredibly affordable and his team was clean and efficient with delivery/install. I would highly recommend and will be back for more!

Christopher is professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his business! He went out of his way to help me choose a plant (star jasmine) for my project as well as provided suggestions for care. I'm excited to continue to do business with Scottsdale Shade & Fruit Tree Nursery and utilize Christopher's input and suggestions for my property!

Our favorite nursery and installers! Chris and the team and so knowledgeable on soil chemistry and conditions! Whatever they plant will thrive! It’s so fun to look around. They have so many amazing plants! Olive trees, oleander bougainvillea, lavender, roses. And so many fruit trees - banana, mango, fig, avocado, peach, plum, guava, kumquat, blood orange, pink lemons, cherry, mulberry! They also do hedge walls - cypress, ficus, etc.
